Per capita, Detroit is one of the blackest cities in America. So when it came to the sequel of the "Detroit" project, the goal was to shine a light on the beauty of the people & culture of the city, which is usually shown in a grungy or decrepit state. Mike took the approach of juxtaposing surrealism with familiar settings & black nuances, which was a through-line during the entire album campaign. The album debuted at #1, broke artist's previous merchandise records, and the overall rollout was critically acclaimed in press & media, despite releasing during the COVD-19 pandemic.
